What Types Of Collectibles Can You Pawn, Buy, or Sell With Paradise Pawn in NYC

Trading Cards

Trading cards are one of the most common collectible items. For generations now, people have enjoyed collecting rare cards and featuring them in their collections. Here at Paradise, we have an affinity for Magic the Gathering, Pokemon, and Graded Sports Cards. We use a variety of systems to appraise these cards. The more rare, hard to find, and in-demand a card is – the more they are worth. So if you are looking to use cards for a loan or simply looking to sell cards, we would be happy to take a look at any cards you have. And of course, if you are a collector, you can browse our inventory of available cards for sale.

Comic Books

When it comes to superheroes, there’s no better way to immerse yourself in their stories than with Comic Books. Comic books are one of the most popular collector’s items, and the recent Hollywood obsession with comic book characters has only increased the excitement around vintage, rare, and hard-to-get comics. The value for a comic book can span a wide range. A comic book’s value can be determined by its age, rarity, condition, demand, and many other factors. For example, first appearance comics can be very high in demand. Whether you have just a handful of comics, a large collection of them, or a CGC Graded First Issue Batman comic – we’d be happy to consider your comics on a loan or buy them from you. And if you’re looking to add to your collection feel free to stop by and check what we have in stock in-store or online

Vintage Collectibles

Another common collectible that people search for are various vintage products that are no longer made. Toys, model trains, antique signs, figurines, and dolls are often sought after by collectors. If you have valuable antiques that could be considered collector’s items we would be happy to discuss their value with you. If you have any questions about what we take or what we sell at our locations, please give us a call for more information.

How Do I Sell Trading Cards & Comic Books To A Pawn Shop?

Can I Sell in Bulk

If you are planning on bringing a cardboard box filled with hundreds of comic books, understand that we will buy in bulk for only less than a dollar per comic book. If you have something unique or rare, it should be separated out, in great condition, and it should be graded and/or have some form of proof of authenticity. Our team does not provide grading for trading cards. And we will not go through a box of hundreds of cards or comics and value each one individually. So if you are looking for to sell something because you believe it has value for its rarity, please have it separated out.

Get Your Items Graded

The best way to sell rare or unique trading cards is to have them graded first. There are many companies that provide grading services. It should be noted that most companies charge you anywhere from $10 to $100 per card depending on you work with. So, you want to make sure you are only grading cards that are going to have significantly higher value than the cost of grading the cards in the first place. There are online guides that can help you understand the factors that come into play when it comes to card value for different types of trading cards.

Rare Items

If you have a genuinely rare collectible that is in great condition, and are interested in selling it or using it for a pawn loan, feel free to give either of our locations a call first. We can potentially answer questions about whether or not we would be interested in the item. It is important that rare items are either graded or have some type of authenticity that we can trust on top of being in great condition.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pawning Collectibles

A pawn shop provides a loan based on the value of the product you provide to them. This loan amount is usually affect by three factors: the appraisal, the condition, and the ease of selling. A pawn shop will have your item appraised to know exactly what your collectible or other item is worth. From there they will look at the specific condition of the item or items you plan to pawn. Finally, they may also consider how easy it will be to sell your item in the future when determining what your item is worth to them.

In its most simplified form, a pawn loan works when a customer takes a loan and uses some of their own property as collateral. When the loan is paid back the item(s) are returned to the customer. If the loan is not paid back the Pawn shop eventually has the right to sell the goods. In America, it has been estimated that about 80% of these types of loans are paid back and the item is returned. These loans are also highly regulated by the government.

Often times, you can get more money for selling an item versus taking a loan. However, when you take a pawn loan you are able to recover the item or items you put up for the loan. So if your goal is simply to get a loan, it may be better to pawn an item. However, if you no longer want the item, selling might be a better solution. The best thing to do is decide right away if you want to regain the item and if you know that you will be able to secure the funds in time to regain your item.
